Two Languages. One Powerful Beginning.

In many Las Vegas homes, more than one language is already part of everyday life. Children move between English and Spanish while talking with parents, grandparents, neighbors, and friends. That is not a barrier to overcome. It is knowledge to build upon.
In North Las Vegas, 37.9% of residents age five and older speak a language other than English at home, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. Our schools should recognize that multilingualism is not unusual here. It is part of who we are.
That belief is at the heart of W.O.R.L.D. Academy.
W.O.R.L.D. stands for Wisdom, Opportunity, Roots, Language, and Discovery. Language is not simply one subject within our model. It is woven into how students learn, communicate, create, and understand one another. Our planned dual-language immersion model will give young students substantial instruction in Spanish while intentionally developing strong English literacy. As students grow, the balance will gradually shift so that they can study, think, and communicate confidently in both languages.
This means bilingual learning will extend beyond vocabulary lists. Students might investigate a local issue, read about it in both languages, interview a family or community member, and present what they discovered to a real audience. They will learn that language has a purpose: to ask better questions, share ideas, preserve stories, and connect across cultures.
For children who speak Spanish at home, school should strengthen—not replace—the language that connects them to family and identity. For children who are beginning Spanish at school, bilingualism can open new relationships and new ways of seeing the world. In the classroom, both groups bring something valuable and both groups have room to grow.
We are building a school where students will not be separated by language. They will learn through it and with one another. That is the promise behind our tagline: Limitless learning in both languages.
W.O.R.L.D. Academy is a proposed tuition-free public charter school planning to open in the 2027–28 school year with grades K, 1, 2, and 5. Families interested in bilingual learning in North Las Vegas and the Historic Westside are invited to join our founding community.
